Frequently Asked Questions About UluRx
Have questions about how UluRx works, who we are, or how to get started? Find answers below — or reach out to our team directly via phone, text, or live video.
Is UluRx a real licensed pharmacy?
Yes. UluRx is a licensed U.S. compounding pharmacy operating under state pharmacy board oversight. All formulas are compounded in a licensed, GMP-compliant facility using pharmaceutical-grade ingredients. Every order includes review by a licensed medical provider before compounding begins.
How is a compounding pharmacy different from a regular pharmacy?
A standard pharmacy dispenses mass-manufactured medications in fixed doses. A compounding pharmacy like UluRx creates formulas from scratch — allowing ingredients, concentrations, and delivery methods to be customized for each individual patient. This means your formula is made specifically for you, not pulled off a shelf.
Do I need a doctor's appointment to use UluRx?
No in-person appointment is needed. UluRx’s licensed medical providers review your health assessment online and issue a prescription if appropriate. The entire process — assessment, provider review, compounding, and shipping — happens without you ever leaving home.
Is UluRx FDA regulated?
Compounding pharmacies operate under a different regulatory framework than drug manufacturers. UluRx compounds using pharmaceutical-grade ingredients in a licensed, GMP-compliant U.S. facility under state pharmacy board oversight. All ingredients are third-party tested for purity and potency.
Where is UluRx based and where do you ship?
UluRx is based in the United States and ships to customers across the country. All formulas are compounded domestically in our licensed U.S. facility.
What happens after I take the UluRx assessment?
After you place your order, you will complete an online assessment. A licensed medical provider reviews your responses, health history, and hair loss profile. If a prescription is appropriate, your formula is compounded fresh and shipped directly to you. Most orders ship within a few business days of provider approval.
How do I know which UluRx formula is right for me?
You can take our 30-second hair quiz or skin quiz to find the right product based on your concerns. After purchase, UluRx’s licensed medical providers evaluate your hair loss pattern, scalp condition, skin concerns, medical history, and treatment goals to determine the right ingredients and concentrations for your specific situation. You’re not choosing from a menu — your provider is building a formula around you.
Can I use UluRx if I'm already taking other medications?
Your health and medication history is part of the assessment process. UluRx’s licensed medical providers review this information before prescribing to check for contraindications and ensure your formula is appropriate and safe given your full health picture.
Does insurance cover UluRx?
Most compounded medications are not covered by insurance. However, our products are HSA/FSA Eligible. UluRx formulas are priced to reflect the value of full customization, licensed medical provider oversight, and pharmaceutical-grade ingredients — without the markup of a retail brand or the overhead of an in-person clinic.
What if I have questions after I start my treatment?
UluRx offers live support via phone, text, and video — not just a message queue. If you have questions about your formula, your results, or want to adjust your treatment as your hair responds, our team is available to help.
Is there a guarantee?
For supplements, UluRx offers a 90-day money-back guarantee. For prescription formulas, we offer a 30-Day Reformulation Guarantee. Your questionnaire asks two things: is there anything you do not want in your formula, and is there anything you do want. Those are your preferences — the prescribing physician has final approval on every formula. If the bottle you receive doesn’t match the preferences you wrote down (you asked for minoxidil and it isn’t in there, or you asked us to leave something out and we didn’t), tell us within 30 days of delivery and we’ll reformulate it free. This guarantee covers our work, not results: no pharmacy can promise regrowth from a questionnaire, and we won’t. No subscription required. Buy one bottle, or subscribe and cancel any time.
Does UluRx use propylene glycol?
No. Every UluRx hair formula, including the ketoconazole scalp serum, is compounded without propylene glycol — the ingredient most often blamed for the itching and flaking women get from standard minoxidil solutions. Your questionnaire asks whether your scalp is dry, oily, or normal, and the pharmacist compounds your formula in the matching base: mostly distilled water, with only enough alcohol to dissolve the minoxidil (least in the dry-scalp base) and the emollients adjusted so the base regulates moisture on your scalp instead of stripping it. No fragrance, no dyes.
