Every formula we compound is custom-built from your quiz answers — your history, your sensitivities, and your scalp type. The only thing that changes between the three options is Latanoprost, a prescription ingredient that extends how long your hair stays in its active growth phase and targets androgenic hair loss. The $99.99 formula doesn't include it. The $199.99 formula includes 0.05%. The $299.99 formula includes 0.10% — double the concentration, and our highest strength. Latanoprost is expensive to source, which is why the price changes between tiers.

Yes — and we encourage it. Your post-purchase health questionnaire asks directly whether there's anything you want in your formula, anything you don't want, and whether you have any allergies. Tell us there and your provider will review it before compounding. Like any prescription, the provider has final say on what goes in, but they want to hear from you. Because your formula is applied topically — directly to your scalp — the ingredients stay local and are absorbed at a fraction of the levels you'd get from an oral pill. That makes a significant difference. Most people tolerate their formula well. The most common experience, especially in the first few weeks, is mild scalp dryness or sensitivity as your skin adjusts. Below are ingredient-specific notes so you know what to watch for and when to call us — which you're always welcome to do.

Minoxidil is one of the most studied topical ingredients in hair loss treatment and is very well tolerated by most people. A few things to know:

Initial shedding in weeks 2–6 is actually a good sign — it means your follicles are cycling into a new growth phase. It's temporary and typically resolves within 4–8 weeks.

Scalp dryness or flaking can occur, especially early on. Our base formulas are designed to minimize this, and your scalp base selection (oily, normal, dry) helps address it.

Unwanted facial or body hair is uncommon with scalp application but can occasionally occur. If it does, let us know — your provider can adjust your concentration on your next formula.

If you notice significant irritation, redness, or swelling, stop use and contact us immediately.

Latanoprost has an excellent safety profile when used topically on the scalp and is well tolerated by the vast majority of patients. A few things to be aware of:

Scalp darkening or pigment changes at the application site are possible but uncommon with scalp use. If you notice changes in skin color at the application area, let your provider know.

Keep it away from your eyes. Latanoprost is also used as an eye drop medication, so if it runs onto your face, rinse the eye area with water. Apply it carefully to the scalp only.

Mild scalp irritation in the first 1–2 weeks is the most commonly reported experience and usually resolves on its own.

Retinoic Acid is a powerful ingredient that works best when you give your scalp a little time to adjust. It's completely normal to experience some sensitivity in the first few weeks.

Scalp redness, dryness, or mild peeling are the most common early experiences. These typically settle down within 2–4 weeks as your skin adapts. Starting with less frequent application and building up gradually can help.

Sun sensitivity — Retinoic Acid can make your scalp more sensitive to sunlight. We recommend applying your formula at night and wearing a hat if you'll be in direct sun for extended periods.

Important: Retinoic Acid must not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

If irritation feels significant or doesn't improve, call us — your provider can adjust the concentration on your next formula.

Because Dutasteride in your formula is applied topically to the scalp — not taken as an oral pill — systemic absorption is minimal compared to the oral medication. Most people experience no side effects at all.

For men: A small number of people using topical DHT blockers report mild changes in libido or sexual function. These are far less common with topical use than with oral Dutasteride, and they resolve if the ingredient is discontinued. If you notice anything that concerns you, tell us right away.

Breast tenderness is occasionally reported and worth mentioning to your provider if it occurs.

Like Dutasteride, Finasteride in your formula is topical — which means it works locally on your scalp with far lower systemic exposure than the oral pill form you may have heard about.

For men: Sexual side effects (changes in libido or function) are occasionally reported with topical use, though significantly less commonly than with oral Finasteride. These are reversible if the ingredient is stopped. If anything concerns you, please reach out — we take this seriously and your provider will help you adjust.

Mood changes are rarely reported but worth noting. If you feel any emotional changes after starting your formula, contact us promptly.
