How Caffeine Supports Hair Growth

FUN FACT: Did you know that caffeine supports hair growth and prevents hair thinning? This occurs in two ways: drinking caffeine or applying it directly to your scalp.

Caffeine contains antioxidants, which help with cell production. These antioxidants protect cells from damage, which prevents damage to the hair. Darker coffee beans are known to have the most antioxidants, such as espresso.

According to the research from the International Journal of Dermatology, caffeine is known to be “a stimulator of human hair growth”. The team specifically studied individuals who were suffering from baldness. The research group applied caffeine directly to the hair follicle. They found that there was significant growth in those spots, compared to areas where the caffeine was not placed.

Caffeine is also known to increase blood circulation, which keeps hair follicles healthy. If you use hair products with caffeine and rub them into your scalp, you are stimulating the follicles.

Dr. Tobias Fischer has even completed a study, which shows that caffeine speeds up the hair growth cycle and increases the length of hair from 33-40%.

I guess this means that you now have the perfect excuse for that daily Starbucks trip.
